About the Workshop:
This interactive workshop is focused on issues facing doctors and health care professionals involved in the active management of patients with HIV.
The primary learning objectives of the two-day training are to:
1. Provide updates in the management of HIV-infected patients, particularly in resource-scarce settings.
2. Create awareness of the complications associated with HIV therapy, including lactic acidosis, hepatotoxicity, metabolic complications and lipodystrophy.
3. Discuss antiretroviral treatment strategies with a particular focus on drugs available in resource-scarce settings.
4. Provide updates on evaluation and management of HIV/TB coinfection.
5. Educate on issues related to HIV in the pediatric population.
